ADHD - Can Chiropractic Care Help?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common pediatric sensory processing disorders.  Children with ADHD are easily distracted and may have trouble paying attention and/or controlling impulsive behaviors.  Unfortunately, this disorder is often over-diagnosed and children are being over-medicated.  Medication for ADHD does not address the root cause of the problem and comes with potentially harmful side effects.  Instead of treating your child with drugs, there are many natural alternatives.

ADHD, a sensory processing disorder, is a neurological condition and diagnosed based on behavioral symptoms.  Since neural signals go from the body to the brain via the spinal cord, spinal misalignment negatively impacts the nerves and nerve function.  By restoring that alignment and removing pressure from the nervous system, it enables the body to function better.  If a child’s spine is misaligned, it may be the cause of behavioral issues and affect their daily performance at school.

According to the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), numerous people have reported chiropractic care has helped them or their children manage the symptoms of ADHD more effectively.  Chiropractic offers a whole-body approach to wellness by focusing on the spine and the nervous system, without employing medication.  With targeted chiropractic adjustments, research has shown that ADHD can be managed effectively without drugs to help restore normal functioning in children.
